Cape Explorers Lodge Knysna
Experience the unique ambience of a timber home!
Cape Explorers Lodge is an owner run bed and breakfast establishment that offers comfortable, cozy, home-away-from-home accommodation in Hunters Home, a quiet, leafy suburb halfway between Knysna town and The Heads, where the lagoon meets the Indian Ocean. Here you will experience peace and quiet only minutes away from the bustling heart of Knysna. We maintain a very relaxed atmosphere and encourage guests to make themselves at home. There is safe parking within the property.

The house is set in a large indigenous garden which attracts a variety of bird life. We have a resident pair of ‘dikkops’ in the garden, as well as fiscal flycatchers and shrikes, olive thrush, cape robins, sunbirds, wagtails, various doves, bulbuls, mousebirds and even the odd Knysna loerie!
Breakfast and Dining
Our self service breakfast consists of fruit juice, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cereals, eggs, bacon/sausage, mushrooms/tomato, toast, filter coffee and a variety of teas.
After a busy day, relax on the deck in the late afternoon and watch the sun going down over the Western Head and the lights coming on across the lagoon at Brenton and Belvidere. Enjoy an evening meal at one of the many restaurants in town. There are five restaurants in the immediate vicinity if you do not feel like going in to town.
We supply a small selection of wine and beer on an ‘honesty’ basis, but guests are welcome to bring their own. Guests are free to use the facilities in the dining room: fridge, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, glasses, plates and cutlery - ideal for making up light meals when you do not feel like yet another restaurant meal. We also have a braai (barbecue) facility in the garden.

There is no laundry facility, but we will take your laundry into town to be done and fetch it again. We will also post letters and do minor shopping if required. We are close to the Knysna and Pezula golf courses and the Knysna Private Hospital.
Knysna is ideally situated to be used as a central base for exploring the Garden Route.
