Dragonfly Cottage \ Accommodation in Herolds Bay

Dragonfly Cottage offers self-catering accommodation in the heart of the Garden Route. The cottage is situated on three hectares of unspoiled coastal fynbos on the Buffelsfontein Estate against the slopes of Herold’s Bay. With only 200m from the beach, 8km from the George Airport and surrounded by five star golf courses, it is the ultimate accommodation for a golfing expedition.

Accommodation

The Cottage sleep six people, a main bedroom (double bed) and a spacious attic with two single beds and a queen size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, gas hob and microwave oven. The bathroom is equipped with tub and shower, and toilet facilities are separate.

The dining and living area is open plan with DSTV, Flat screen TV and DVD player. On the deck are braai facilities and a warm outside shower. Secure parking is available and the Cottage is very privately situated at least 200m away from the nearest public roads or housing.

We offer special deals for local cuisine at the Down To Earth Restaurant just 2km away on the Herold’s Bay Eco Resort. The Down To Earth restaurant is built with cob with a perfect view over the ocean and Mossel Bay. The local cuisine, live music over weekends and African atmosphere provides for memorable occasions.

Visitors in the past have always enjoyed the quiet in-nature-experience. With the constant sound of the waves, view on the ocean and the Mosselbay lights at night, customers return annually to recharge. The stained glass art in the doors and lamps are conducive to the tranquil environment. The best time of the year to make use of the accommodation, is during January, February and March when all the holiday visitors have left and the weather still provides for full days on the beach. The beach is about a five minute walk from the Cottage.

Location & Attractions

Herold’s Bay is a favourite destination all year round for its pristine beauty. Well known for fishing, body boarding and surfing all year round. Keen mountain bikers have used the accommodation in the past as a base to cycle the surrounding hills and made trips to Montagu Pass, back roads to Sedgefield Market, Knysna and Geelhout Boom. During high season in December and January, Herold’s Bay is filled to capacity with the Herold’s Bay festival, live music and the traditional New Year’s evening fireworks display growing in stature.

Dragonfly Cottage is within one hour’s drive from Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. With five star golf courses like Oubaai and Fancourt just minutes away and Pezula, Simola, Goose Valley, George, and Mosselbay courses all within an hour’s drive, Dragonfly Cottage provides for perfect golfing accommodation.
