Nature's Valley Guest House Natures Valley
Nature’s Valley Guest House is situated a short 200m from the Indian Ocean and 200m from the Groot River lagoon. This unique thatched-roof guesthouse offers amazingly affordable bed and breakfast accommodation, living up to it slogan “home-from-home comfort in Nature’s own paradise”.
God has more than generously splashed His natural beauty palette around Nature’s Valley, a small hamlet of 400 houses, mostly hidden among the trees, the only residential area inside the Tsitsikamma National Park, with only 50 houses permanently occupied during the year.
Facilities
The spacious T.V. lounge with cosy fire place, and dining room with its high thatched roof gives an “out-of-Africa” feel to the guesthouse, while the open-plan kitchen, with chefs Ian and Dan in attendance for breakfasts, lend a bit of conversation to the moment. A second comfortable ‘home from home’ T.V.lounge with pool table, and kiddies books and videos, offers something for every age.
Accommodation
The 3 double rooms and 3 en-suite rooms all lead out onto the lush green garden where one can soak in the sunshine and incredible peace of unspoilt nature. The sound of birdsong and clicking treefrogs, and waves breaking on the shoreline takes one back to the beginning of time and adds to the peace of the moment. Watching colourful butterflies flitting in the natural garden and a bush-buck chewing a branch nearby, adds to the charm.
Nature's Valley Guest House is the only B&B in the whole vicinity that accepts children, and has a self-catering kitchenette and braai area to make it more family-friendly.
For Hikers
Nature’s Valley is at the end of the famous Otter Hiking Trail and the beginning of the Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail, making the guesthouse an ideal stopover for hikers starting or ending either trail. The hearty breakfast included in the Otter Trail Special tariff, which has been on offer since 1993, and the available shuttle service, is an added bonus.
Location
A quick stroll for a swim or a surf in the sea, or a 5km hike along the pristine beach from the lagoon on the left to the blue rocks at the other end, allows one plenty of time to look for breaching whale and splashing dolphins; while the busy sand-piper and the rare oyster-catcher making their presence felt on the beach will not go unnoticed by even the most novice birdwatcher. The resident otters leave their footprints on the wave-washed sand, and have frightened more than one visitor with a surprise appearance. Shy bushbuck and occasional wild pig and baboon can be spotted on the many short hiking trails in the nearby forest and hills,
To appreciate the dramatic coastline and landscape of mountains, forest, beach, river and lagoon, the visitor needs to venture out by canoe, or bike, or foot, or scuba trail or sea-kyak, or motorized glider; any way except the highway. A free canoe is on offer to guests, where one can appreciate their reflection in the glass-like lagoon, or venture further up-stream past the bridge, into “wild” territory.
So extend your stay and explore the very many adventure attractions offered nearby, including the Big Five and the World’s highest bungee, Tree Top canopy tours, Elephant park, Bramon Wine Estate and many, many others. The night-life of Plettenberg Bay is only a 20 minute drive away.
