Peace of Eden \ Accommodation in Knysna

Peace of Eden, situated alongside the magical forest where the last remaining elephants roam free in the heart of the Garden Route. We are a perfect safe base for exploring all the major attractions of the Garden Route. Situated only 6 km’s from Knysna on the west side, and 8.2 km’s from the N2 along a picturesque country road leading to Rheenendal Village and the historical Millwood Goldmine.

We are only 10-15 minutes from Knysna town, our 2 stunning beaches Brenton on Sea and Buffalo Bay and the famous Knysna Estuary and Lagoon now a protected National Reserve with its mystical sea horses and pansy shells.

ACCOMMODATION

Experience the tranquility of our creative country lifestyle alongside our indigenous forest filled with chattering monkeys, bushbuck, porcupines and abundant bird life, a nature lover and birders paradise. In enchanting park like and safe surroundings you can stay in one of our unique self catering units scattered along the forest edge in the heart of the Garden Route.

WOODCUTTER CHALETS

Meander along a pebble pathway through a copse of trees to these 2 quaint Woodcutter style Chalets placed alongside each other. They have cosy wood panelled walls and high pitched ceilings. Ideal for 2 / a couple or a family of 4 on a budget. Each is fully furnished in a welcoming earthy eclectic style and has a double bedroom with mosquito net, bathroom with open floor shower, quaint well equipped kitchen galley, open plan lounge with 2 day beds leading onto a rustic timber deck with a rock braai (barbecue) on the lawn.

Djembe and Marimba Chalets:
Sleeps 2-4 persons. Djembe faces sleepy sunrises and overlooks a small orchard and the forest filled with mischievous monkeys, and Marimba faces west to stunning sunsets, fields and forest.

THE BARNS CABINS

A large timber building near the forest edge, converted into 3 privately appointed cabins, all with decks, braai’s and picturesque views.

Sunbird Cabin:
Sleeps 2 persons. Sunny and bright where sunbirds abound in the nearby bottle brush and maple trees, this cozy cottage has a bedroom with ensuite bathroom, open plan lounge, kitchen leading onto a large covered timber deck overlooking fields with horses, and sunsets over the indigenous forest.

Maluko Studio:
Sleeps 2-4 persons. A spacious studio style Cabin, with large open plan lounge, kitchen and bathroom with shower, a twin bedded bedroom alcove and a double bunk in the lounge. A cozy covered veranda that leads onto verdant lawns with small braai and views of the Outeniqua Mountains and an orchard of Macademia nut trees.

Gecko Cabin:
Sleeps 4-6 persons. This spacious bright cabin has glorious sunset views over fields, forest and the wide-open starry night sky. It has 2 small bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin beds, plus a double bunk in the dining area. It has a bathroom with shower and a large open plan lounge with fire place, dining room and kitchen leading onto a large covered veranda and fire pit.

DOUBLE STOREY COTTAGE:

Gwendolyn’s Glade:
Sleeps 2-4 persons. A cosy double Storey Cottage, reminiscent of the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, snuggled amongst pretty flowering trees. It has a large attic bedroom ( Queen-size bed ) with dormer windows, and downstairs there is an open plan kitchen lounge with a fireplace and a television , there is a small bedroom alcove off the lounge with twin or bunk beds. A Lovely large covered veranda draped in Bougnavillea overlooking a beautiful lily pond and park like gardens. Ideal for Honeymooners or a stay with a few extra luxuries.

FOREST SAFARI TENTS:

Mystic Moon, Morning Star, Firefly and Deep Forest
Sleeps 2 persons in each. Along a magically lantern lit pathway you will find our 4 cosy Cottage Style Safari Tents, these are on timber decks on stilts amongst the forest canopy. Each has a comfy double or twin beds, small table and 2 chairs and a mosquito netted veranda.

They are privately situated, 2 on the edge of the forest and 2 deeper in the forest, closer to nature you do not get than this ! There is a well equipped Bush Kitchen with electricity, and a forest breakfast deck with large fire pit, a solar shower amongst flowering shrubs and an eco loo shared amongst the 4 Tents

ECO CAMP SITES 1, 2, 3 & 4

A maximum of 4 persons per night. Exclusive non specified sites for tents or camper vehicles only (no caravans) situated on lawned areas alongside the forest edge, with the use of the Safari tent facilities. Electricity avail from the bush kitchen.

ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

On site you can explore our indigenous forest walks down to a magical stream, canoe on a large lily pond, wonder at the amazing variety of birds and butterflies flying around, chat to the friendly horses that stroll the cabins in the fields, or simply relax with a book on your deck and watch the abundant Knysna Loerie fly by. Within 5 to 10 minutes from us you can choose from a variety of forest mountain bike and hiking trails, forest horse rides, canoeing on the Knysna River, Lagoon ferry rides, adventure sports etc. We now offer light meals at our Amuso Bar and Bistro, set in a lush tropical garden with a pond pool.
