Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge \ Accommodation in Wilderness

Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge Wilderness

Hike through the Cape Fynbos, picnic at the river or cool off in a mountain pool. Dine under the stars before luxuriating in a bath flooded with moonlight. All this without stepping off the Porcupine Pie private estate.

The Perfect Honeymoon Venue / Romantic Getaway

Porcupine Pie is a custom built getaway, recently voted 2nd best honeymoon destination in Southern Africa. It is specifically designed to offer couples of all ages a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The design and features which make it so attractive to adults unfortunately make it unsuitable for children.

The lodge is situated on a hill high above the valley and enjoys breathtaking views of the Outeniqua Mountain Range which lies to the North, and the ocean to the South. And despite the close proximity to the many places of interest and exciting activities the Garden Route has to offer (25 minutes from George Airport), Porcupine Pie gives one the feeling of having escaped the bustle of civilization.

Numerous vegetation types - Cape Fynbos, forest, riverine gorges and open grasslands ensure that the birdlife is both varied and prolific, and lovely walking trails have been created both in and around the valley.

ACCOMMODATION

The lodge comprises three luxurious double chalets, all within easy walking distance of the lapa, but carefully placed so as to offer guests total privacy.

All the chalets have extra length kingsize beds. Heaters and electric blankets are there to take the chill off cold winter nights and ceiling fans to cool the chalets on balmy summer nights.

Chalets have stocked bar fridges and colour television with satellite TV. All bathrooms offer both baths and showers. Each chalet has a large private deck - so guests wishing to stay at the lodge during the day have the choice between the privacy of their own deck or the more sociable lapa deck and swimming pool.

WINING & DINING

Sumptuous breakfast options include Continental, full English as well as regular specials freshly prepared by John and Judy, and served either on the pool deck or in the dining room -depending on weather.

In addition to breakfast which is included in the rates, Porcupine Pie offers dinner for guests not wishing to participate in the nightlife offered in the Wilderness Village.

The Lodge is fully licensed and offers a limited but carefully chosen range of local wines and beers as well as the more popular brands of spirits.

ACTIVITIES

Porcupine Pie Guest Lodge offers a wide range of activities. On the lodges property we offer lovely nature trails, river pools, as well as excellent bird watching.

On a neighbouring farm is one of the Garden Routes finest riding stables, offering supervised trails into the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains for all levels of riders. In the Wilderness Village there are shops, restaurants and a weekly market - as well as an excellent health spa.

Whale watching (August to October), Para-gliding, Surfing are all available along the Wilderness coastline, whilst the surrounding Garden Route offers numerous Championship Golf Courses, Shark diving (at Mossel Bay), bungi-jumping (Blaaukranz River - World’s highest bungi-jump), caving (Cango Caves) and ostrich riding (Oudtshoorn).
